Drawing is an exercise in studying and learning the vernacular environments of my home in northern Florida and travels throughout the state. Artmaking encourages me to explore the landscapes through hiking and to gradually discover the intricacies of the spaces. As a whole, my work is a means for me to form roots in the place call home.
The single images and accordion books act as a map of my travels through Florida and document my discoveries. Often my mark making is loose and organic with a focus on line, light, and color, suggesting movement and spontaneity that directly relates to experiencing the land on foot.
